How to Sell Your Unwanted Items
1. Find its Value
Step one of selling anything is to find out how much it’s worth. The saying goes, “An item is only worth what people are willing to pay”. So head to sites like Craigslist, eBay and your local classifieds and look up similar items and their costs. Once you have a rough idea of how much it’s selling for, it’s time to post.
2. Post
How you want to post is up to you. You can go digital and use Craigslist, eBay or the app LetGo. Or you can go more traditional and put an ad in the local classifieds. We suggest digital because it’s usually free to post and you can adjust prices etc. Taking good pictures helps immensely as well.
3. Sell It
Once you have posted your item and you are getting some interest from people, it’s time to find the highest bidder and agree to sell your item. The important part here is that meeting strangers can be a dangerous thing. There have been instances of theft during these sales. The best place to meet a buyer is in front of your local police station. No, seriously, they won’t mind one bit.
4. Repeat
Do this for all the items in your collection. Find the values, post and sell. If your clutter isn’t moving as fast as you’d like, rent a self storage unit and use that as a temporary storage place. Who knows, maybe you don’t want to sell everything, but now you have another place to store clutter. Win.
