items, moving, packing, new home

Moving and packing can be stressful enough, help to alleviate that stress but leaving certain items behind. When you are planning your new home, make sure that all the items that you bring are actually needed. To help with this, we have created a list of the most common things that you should leave behind.

New Home? Leave These Items Behind

Expired Items

It might be temping to just throw all your food items into boxes and into the moving truck. We think that before you start packing, grab some garbage bags and go through each perishable food item and throw away all the expired or nearly expired items. Doing this will save a ton of space and allow you to declutter your fridge before your big move.

Old Technology

Besides the stuff that you haven’t used in years, we suggest turning things like DVD’s, CD’s, photos and paper documents into digital copies. There is plenty of software out there that can help turn your physical collections in digital ones. Did you know that CD’s and DVD’s will go bad eventually? Another reason to convert them to digital copies!

Clothes

Everyone has clothes that they haven’t worn in ages. When you are packing your clothes up, follow the general rule: If you haven’t worn it in a year, toss it out or donate it. The amount of weight and space you can save by removing unworn clothes is huge. Plus, you are doing a good deed by donating.

Duplicate Items

You really don’t need 6 USB cables, and you REALLY don’t need 3 microwaves, so leave them behind. If you are totally unsure whether to keep them, put them in a temporary storage unit until you can decide. You never know, that third microwave might just come in handy some day.
